Fachada rehabilitada

Facade painting and render

We renew the facade finish with paints and renders that protect it from rain, sun and pollution. Always after preparing the substrate properly.

Paint and render are the skin of the facade: they give it its appearance but, above all, they protect it from rain, sun and pollution. When they crack or fade, the facade starts to absorb water and deteriorate.

We paint and render the facades of residential blocks, homes, commercial premises and industrial buildings.

Preparation is what matters

Painting over a facade in poor condition is throwing money away: the cracks show through again and the damp lifts the paint within a short time. Before painting, we repair the render, fix the cracks, remove loose areas, stop any water ingress and apply the right primer.

Types of paint

PaintWhat it is for
Breathable (silicate, mineral)Old and lime walls: protects the wall and lets moisture escape.
Waterproof or elasticFacades with hairline cracks or heavily exposed to rain.
Exterior acrylicModern render in good condition; hard-wearing, with a wide range of colours.
Anti-dampAreas where the damp has already been treated at source, as a protective finish.

Renders and coatings

When the facade needs more than paint, we apply renders and coatings that form a thicker, tougher layer:

  • One-coat render (monocapa): a through-coloured mortar applied in a single coat, very common on residential buildings.
  • Acrylic coatings: elastic and hard-wearing, with smooth or textured finishes.
  • Mineral coatings: breathable, suitable for old buildings.
  • Waterproof coatings: for facades with water ingress problems.

When a facade needs painting

  • The paint is worn, cracked or has faded.
  • Hairline cracks or stains appear.
  • The facade is starting to absorb water.
  • The facade has been repaired and needs its final finish.

For owners’ associations (comunidades de propietarios), repainting is a quick way to improve the look of the building and keep it protected. We help you choose colours and finishes. From Viladecavalls (Barcelona) we work across Spain and on international projects.

Frequently asked questions about painting

What is the best paint for a facade?

It depends on the substrate and its condition. Old walls need a breathable paint, such as silicate or mineral paints; facades with hairline cracks need an elastic or waterproof paint; and on modern render, exterior acrylic paints give good results.

Can you paint over a facade with cracks or damp?

Not without repairing it first. If you paint over it, the crack shows through again and the damp lifts the paint within a short time. First the render and cracks are repaired and the water ingress is stopped.
